Product Description
Version 1.0 - Released 10/26/24
This spreadsheet analyzes rigid diaphragms.
Key features include:
- Multiple Loading Scenarios
This spreadsheet can account for loading in each principle direction simultaneously. This can be helpful for situations where orthogonal effects must be considered by code (e.g. the 100%/30% rule). Many other rigid diaphragm analysis tools only consider one loading scenario at a time.
- Accidental and Inherent Torsional Load Cases
Inherent torsion is automatically checked, and accidental torsion is added based on a user-defined percentage. Torsional loads are calculated considering both positive and negative eccentricities applied to the accidental torsion.
- Torsional Irregularity Checks and Torsional Amplification Factor
The spreadsheet checks for torsional irregularities in accordance with ASCE 7-16. Torsional irregularities are highlighted in orange. Extreme torsional irregularities are highlighted in red. The torsional amplification factor is calculated for each load case and loads are amplified accordingly.
- Visual Feedback
This spreadsheet draws your system's layout as you define it for real-time visual feedback. It draws elements in their proper locations and draws the center of gravity and the center of rigidity.
- Convenient Spreadsheet Format
The spreadsheet format of this calculator enables you to link the calculations to your own calculations for personalized solutions.
- This product uses U.S. customary units
- The worksheet is protected, but no password is applied. Be careful unprotecting the worksheet. Rearranging the tables could corrupt the workbook. The VBA routines running in the background rely on an expected layout and format for the tables in this workbook.
- This is a macro-enabled workbook. The VBA code running behind the scenes is proprietary and password protected.
