Welcome to Building<code>! This site is a side-project/hobby I started for fun. I'm a professional structural engineer with 18 years of real world design experience in the U.S. and internationally, but I've enjoyed computer programming for many years. This site provides a few basic structural engineering web applications for free use, as well as some spreadsheets available for purchase.

By using this website or any spreadsheets from this site you agree to the User Agreement below. To report errors see Reporting Errors below.

The site is a little bare right now, but I am improving it. You can expect to see continued improvements to the site and more tools to come, so please check back regularly. Don't expect these tools to check everything for you or to be free from errors. I am working to make the calculations more transparent so you can validate them yourself manually. If you see an issue please report it (see below). I hope you find these tools useful.

Basic Usage

The tools on this website all work similarly. When you click the User License Agreement checkbox a button will appear on the right allowing you to run the calculations.

Errors will either appear in red directly in the forms you fill out, or they will appear at the bottom of the screen in red. Calculations won't be able to be run until all errors are resolved.

If you want to save your work and come back to it later you can use the "Save File" and "Upload File" buttons in each tool. Files will download from your web browser in .csv format, and you can upload them back to the site to pick up where you left off.

The calculations are printer friendly. Simply use your web brower's printing capabilities to print any of the calculations. The calculations are divided into sections. If there is a section you don't want to print, simply click on the section heading to toggle it. If it's toggled off it will not print.

End User License Agreement

By purchasing or using any of the spreadsheets or applications on this website ("Software"), the Purchaser or User of the Software agrees to the following terms:

The Software may not be redistributed in any form. Software purchases are for individual use by the Purchaser, or the Purchaser's employees only. Multiple purchases must be made for multiple users. Limit one User per purchase.

The Software shall remain the intellectual property of Building<code>, and shall not be unlocked, reverse engineered, resold, or transferred to other individuals. Derivations and extentions of spreadsheets may be created for the Purchaser's own use, subject to the constraints of this agreement regarding portions of the derivation or extension that are the intellectual property of Building<code>.

The Software is intended to assist engineers trained, experienced, and qualified to perform structural analysis and design. Individuals without the proper training, experience, and qualifications shall not use the Software. While I work very hard to test and validate the Software, I cannot provide any guarantees it is free from errors. The User is ultimately responsible to validate the results of the Software.

Portions of the Software labeled as "beta" are still largely under development, and the user acknowledges and accepts the risks associated with using them.

Problems Receiving Files

Please check the e-mail associated with your PayPal account for your file. The file will be sent automatically, but it can take some time for delivery. It depends how quickly PayPal sends payment notification to this website.
